SHRM is on a mission to elevate HR. Through the empowerment of people and workplaces, SHRM works to advance HR practices and maximize human potential. SHRM’s vision is to build a world of work that works for all. SHRM’s vision is executed through a network of State Councils and Local Chapters.

North Carolina SHRM (NCSHRM)  is the state body supporting the work of LakeNormanHR.

The story of Lake Norman HR :

Lake Norman HR was founded in 2015 by Larry Valenti, Ellen Slane and Beatrice Runyan when they recognized a need for a local SHRM Chapter in the north Charlotte Metro area. They took action in the form of connecting with local HR professionals and HR aligned organizations, they quickly discovered a real interest in the community for continuing education and networking opportunities.

Soon after this feedback was received, LakeNormanHR was formed and became a SHRM Affiliate Chapter. The first board, led by Beth Burleson, starting hosting member meetings in the Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson area in 2015.
